Depending on the timing, NASA could launch a fresh crew to the space station while four other astronauts are flying around the moon.
Among other things, the James Webb Space Telescope is designed to get us closer to finding habitable worlds around faraway stars. From its perch a million miles from Earth, Webb’s huge gold-coated mirror collects more light than any other telescope put into space.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman talked to FLORIDA TODAY about the Crew-11 astronaut evacuation, Artemis II rocket rollout, and the status of NASA HQ.
With launch potentially just three weeks away, the agency is working tirelessly to get the SLS rocket, Orion spacecraft, and the Artemis 2 crew ready for liftoff.
NASA is getting ready to finally send off the crew of the Artemis II, the first crewed expedition to the Moon since the Apollo missions ended in 1972. Following several test rounds and small delays, the team is now readying to transport its Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft to the Kennedy Space Center.
The crawler carrying the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft was built 60 years ago to haul NASA’s Saturn V rockets, then kept around for the Space Shuttle Program. Now, the vehicle is back to its original purpose of positioning Moon-bound rockets on their launch pads.
